Fred Griffin: Florida! Beaches, Freshwater Springs, Sports, Seafood, Fishing, Resorts!

Florida! Beaches, Freshwater Springs, Sports, Seafood, Fishing, Resorts!

Florida!   Why would you live anywhere else?  We have over 1300 MILES of Beaches.   Dozens of "First Magnitude" Freshwater Springs.  Unbelievable Flora and Fauna.  Some of the mildest climate in the United States, with the only Tropical Region in the United States.

The Gulf of Mexico in Northwest Florida will rival anything that the Caribbean has to offer.  The Coral Reefs in Key Largo are a Scuba Diver's Paradise.

Shells in Sanibel Island... Fossil Shark's Teeth in Venice...  Manatees in Crystal River...  The best Oysters in the world in Apalachicola.

"Bottled Water" flows out of dozens of  freshwater springs, and beckons you to dive in.  Look at the label on your "Deer Park" or your "Zephyrhills" water bottles - the source of that water will be Florida springs!

History?   The oldest Cities in the New World are in Florida (St. Augustine and Pensacola).

Florida has countless Native American mounds and artifacts that pre-date Time itself.

The first European Explorers landed in Florida, including Juan Ponce de León, who sought the "The Fountain of Youth".  He named our State, "La Florida".  He was followed later by the Great Conquistador, Hernando de Soto, who celebrated America's "First Christmas" in Tallahassee, Florida.

Tallahassee is the only Confederate Capital that was not captured and occupied by the  Armies of the North.

The Saturn 5 Moon Rocket, carrying Apollo 11, was launched from the Kennedy Space Port at Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Amusement Parks?  Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld are within sight of each other.

Florida is the birthplace of Automobile Racing (Ormond Beach, way back in the day).  The Daytona 500 is NASCAR's greatest annual event.

Golf - Florida is covered with golf courses.  Many professional golfers reside in Florida (for the tax benefits as well as the climate!).

Professional Football includes the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Miami Dolphins, and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

College Football (National Champions Florida State University, and the University of Florida).

Sport Fishing!  Both fresh water and salt water.

Surfing -   Cocoa Beach boasts the world's largest Surf Shop ("Ron Jon's").  Sebastian Inlet offers some of the best surfing on the East Coast of the U.S.A.

Florida has it all!  Perfect weather.  Low, low taxes including NO State Income Tax and no Sales Tax on Groceries or Medicines.  Superb highway system, numerous International Airports, huge Port Cities including Jacksonville, Miami, Tampa, and Panama City.  Seafood!  Beaches!  Golf!  Oranges!  Sunshine!

You will love Florida!

Fred, You made me long to be in Florida. It is in my blood since I was born in Miami. I have great early childhood memories of the poinsettia plants, coconut palms, the beaches and the breezes. Oh and I almost forgot the sunshine.

Noah, come on down to Florida!  You will be so glad.

Lisa - thank you very much!

Debbie!  Miami?  Wow, I never would have guessed!  I have cousins in Pompano Beach, and a cousin in Miami Proper.   When we were kids we spent many weekends in Fort Lauderdale at my Aunt's house.
